A great white egret stands in the shallows, still and self‑contained, surrounded by broad leaves, reeds and shifting reflections. The piece is built from hand‑painted papers, cut, torn and layered so the textures carry the scene.  The smooth sweep of the egret’s neck, the sharper edges of the reeds, the softer, mottled scraps that make up the water and sky. Those small variations in brushwork and snips give the wetland its depth, from the pale tree forms behind to the birds moving through the distance. It’s a quiet moment of a bird doing what it does best—waiting, watching, and blending into its place.
