A red kite drops toward its nest with the steady, effortless control they’re known for, wings open and catching the light as it comes in. The whole piece is built from hand‑painted papers with cuts, tears and layered textures that give the feathers their lift and the branches their roughness. The nest sits in a tangle of coloured leaves and shaped scraps, the eggs held safely at the centre.  While the sky behind carries looser forms of distant birds and weather. 'Success Story' also nods to the red kite’s history: once pushed to the edge of extinction in the UK, red kites have made one of our most remarkable wildlife recoveries.
